This article is about the Democratic People's Republic of Rason. For the article about the country that once occupied the same land, see Baskol.

Rason, officially the Democratic People's Republic of Rason, is one of the largest and influential nations in the world, with a world ranking of around #22, and often reaches military spots of up to #2, making it a military power. It occupies the area around the equator of the Zaherian continent. Most of the land it occupies are to the south of the equator, but also stretches to the north of the equator for a few thousand kilometres before reaching the wastelands. It also occupies the southern half of an island chain to the east of the mainland. To the west and south is an ocean, and to the north is the rest of the mainland. The northern area is a highly radioactive wasteland, and to the north of that was the spot where Baskol's rival, Oof lay. Today, Oof has been replaced by Clantia, with new peaceful relations with Rason. To the east of the wastelands lay a small strip of a Clantia colony, and a new collection of primitive tribes who call themselves "Airstrip 1", a reference of the novel 1984 the wish to base their future country on. It is still somewhat disputed who owns the wastelands, however, most coutnries recognize Rason as the rightful owner.

"Rason is a coastal industrious and sprawling dictatorial nation ruled by Leader Justin Cheng. Its capital Kaesŏng is situated on the desert continent of Zaheria.

Rason is a member of the alliance The Last Bastion.

The world-covering borders of Rason surround innumerable forests, some jungles, numerous mountains, innumerable deserts, numerous cleared land, many lakes, many rivers, numerous grasslands, a few tundra and innumerable urban areas.

The known flora is very diverse and includes a few rubber trees, a few unicorn grass, a few grapevines, a few herbs, a few hemp, a few tobacco plants, a few cocoa trees, some apple trees, a few coffea, many cacti, a few kingwood, some oak trees, some hops and innumerable silk.

The known fauna is very diverse and includes plenty of buffalos, innumerable cows, innumerable sheep, numerous boars, plenty of goats, a few yeti, plenty of beehives, some foxes, innumerable panthers and some elephants. Innumerable mackerels, plenty of cods, many whales, numerous sharks, some piranhas, many salmon, some bass, innumerable shrimps and a few clams are found outside the coast of Rason.

Under the surface the geologists have found tiny amounts of iron, loads of coal, little uraninite, tiny amounts of stonesilver, tiny amounts of sulfur, tiny amounts of saltpeter, tiny amounts of marble, some copper, a decent amount of gold, a decent amount of silver, little platinum, tiny amounts of bauxite, tiny amounts of gemstones and a decent amount of lead.

Like few other nations tiny amounts of crude deep sea oil and loads of petroleum is found within the Rasonian borders.

The technological advancements of Rason is adequate, and their military power is adequate."

History

The first tribes of people migrated to the peninsula about 2500 years ago as nomadic desert tribes. Eventually, they discovered agriculture, and stopped moving around. One day about 2000 years ago, leaders of the largest tribes met together to form one unified nation, named Baskol.

Modern Baskol came in 2018, when Jennifer A. Black rose to power as the dictator of Baskol following a violent coup d'etat, with the promise of raising Baskol to the status of a world superpower.

The country remained relatively underpopulated, underdeveloped, and poor, depending on the commodities exchange for everything, from food to consumer goods and metal. The military, however, had priority of resources. They managed to produce several BTR-80s, code named "Plump Tank"s.

The technological research was mainly focused on military. As the population count reached the 600,000 milestone, a breakthrough was made, and started the Golden Age of Baskol.

On several missions to eliminate the Khev Minosk terrorists in Westberg, the Baskolian army seized several reliable T-72 tanks. The military also started training Mortar Infantry and Snipers, making the infantry divisions even more powerful.

The most significant advancement was the discovery of uranium ore under the desert. Due to the rarity of uranium at this time, and the lack of other competitors, Baskol controlled the uranium ore market, making millions of dollars a day.

Population growth increased, up to about the 1,200,000 point. The Air Force had grown, and advanced MQ-9 Reaper drones were being produced. However, at this point, uranium ore was being sold faster than Baskol could expand its borders to find more. The introduction of other competitors in the market caused uranium ore prices to plummet, further hurting Baskol's economy.

Baskol still had no other export other than uranium ore, and with the lack of income, the country began to suffer. All of Baskol's food, consumer goods, metal, and even power was imported, using the funds received from the uranium trade.

This, combined with lack of metal, ammunition, funds, and fuel combined with skyrocketing fuel and consumer goods prices, caused Baskol's military to suffer. Other countries took notice and invaded Baskol's homeland, which were mostly defenseless. Seeing no other option, the Baskolian military moved its best troops to invade weaker countries nearby. However, a Global Defence Initiative led airstrike of extremely experienced and well equipped F-35 Lightnings decimated Baskol's attacking forces, further weakening Baskol's military and went on to flatten major Baskolian cities.

Baskol went through consumer goods shortages, fuel shortages, power shortages and even famines. Baskol's alliance had removed Baskol after they declared war on the weaker countries. Seeing no other options, Baskol started to develop a Biological Weapons program as the only way to retaliate, as half the country was now occupied by invaders.

On June 29, 2019, agreed upon by most historians as the end of Baskol, a fatal pathogen (RSKL-27) escaped from a facility, spreading like wildfire through Baskol, killing most of the population. It did eventually spread to the invaders, forcing them to pull back. Nuclear power plants that were left unattended exploded and left the area inhabitable for many centuries to come, due to radiation.

Unbeknownst to the survivors in Baskol, the alliance SPQR conducted several human testing and other atrocities without anyone noticing, which is why they insisted no one else invade the mainland.

After a failed biological weapons test on June 29, 2019, a fatal pathogen (RSKL-27) was released into Baskol, killing almost all the population. Very few people survived, and rumours say that the disease spread to Oof, explaining the slowing population growth rate. The natives of Baskol, with no resistance to the disease, completely died off. There is still no vaccine or cure.

On February 19, 2020, a large group of survivors met in Kaesong and elected Justin Cheng as their new leader, and thus the nation of Rason was born.

Like Baskol, Justin Cheng named himself dictator, while the country remained mainly a poor, third-world country while desperately trying to increase military power. Justin Cheng analyzed military superpowers of the time to develop a program to help their own military.

However, Baskol remained too poor to develop a decent military until they reached the technology nessecary to extract the once-again precious uranium ore, which caused an economy boom. Cheng's military plan allowed the nation to quickly rise, sometimes reaching the #2 spot of top military while only at tier 8. Rason started multiple wars, including against the Pacific Islands, and only lost one war, which was only becuase of alliance interference. Although the uranium ore is no longer as valuable, the population of now 70,000,000 gives enough tax income to fund all of Rason's needs.

Geography

Most of Rason is in the desert. The mainland is a penisula in the southern end of the continent, which reaches from the edges of the wastelands to the Rasonian ocean to the south. To the west, a Rason also occupies a small island chain, although half of it are considered wastelands. It is divided into 12 provinces, as well as two colonies.

The mainland is completely desert and is intercepted by the equator. There is an island chain to the west which is sometimes erroenoulsy drawn as a single big island.

Climate

Most of Rason's rain falls in the winter months. South of Kaesong, rainfall averages only around 2 to 5 mm (0.1 to 0.2 in) per year and at intervals of many years. On a very thin strip of the southern coast the rainfall can be as high as 410 mm (16.1 in), mostly between October and March.  Frost is also known near the Zaherian-Tind border and mid-Rason. Rason is the driest and the sunniest country in the world, and most of its land surface is desert.

Rason has an unusually hot, sunny and dry climate. Average high temperatures are high in the north but very to extremely high in the rest of the country during summer. The cooler Tind winds consistently blow over the western sea coast, which helps to get more moderated temperatures, especially at the height of the summer. The Khamaseen is a hot, dry wind that originates from the vast deserts in the east and blows in the spring or in the early summer. It brings scorching sand and dust particles, and usually brings daytime temperatures over 40 °C (104 °F) and sometimes over 50 °C (122 °F) in the interior, while the relative humidity can drop to 5% or even less. The absolute highest temperatures in Rason occur when the Khamaseen blows. The weather is always sunny and clear in Rason, especially in cities such as Oumaji, Luxidor and Kickoo. It is one of the least cloudy and least rainy regions on Earth.

Administrative Divisions

Rason is divided into 12 provinces, divided by their geographical area.

Xin'xi

Xin'xi is the furthest east province in Rason. It consists of the land close to areas that could be considered a biological hazard due to surviving COVID-18 viruses. Because of this, very few people other than Native Baskolians live here. The land here is actually more similar to that of Westberg. Cherry blossom trees and pumpkins live here. Xin'xi is also where most of the country gets it's gold. A few wild horses and fish live here, but few other animals do.

Imperius

Imperius is similar to Xin'xi, but here, the first uranium mines were built. Unfortunately these were built before proper research was done, which lead to improper handling of uranium ore. This, along with the Nuclear Perry Power Plant Incident, lead to the area being heavily contaminated with radiation. The place is now inhabitable, although a few wild animals still remain, along with heavily mutated plants.

Bardur

Bardur is the narrow but long strip of land among the Zaherian-Tind border. Due to the constant risk of an invasion, the mountain ranges of this area are heavily militarized, with many Concrete Bunkers. In fact, almost all military bases are located here. The climate and land in this area is actually the same as that of Tind, but since the Norrland Mountain Range (the tallest in the area) is to the west of this area, it is still officially part of Zaheria. Before the militarization of the area, it was mainly a logging area due the large forests in this area. The capital of Rason, Kaesong, is located here.

Ouamaji

Ouamaji is the largest province in Zaheria, consisting of only deserts. Despite being the largest province, only 23% of people live here. This is where almost all the uranium ore comes from, before being transported to Luxidor or Kickoo and being sold to other countries, while only a small percent of uranium ore is turned into uranium. The Nuclear Harry Power Plant, the only nuclear power plant in Rason, is located here.

Kickoo

Kickoo consists of the scattered islands in the Rasonian Sea. 45% of all of Rason's trade comes through the many ports and customs houses located here. There are many beaches and tourist attractions built here, and is the wealthiest province in Rason.

Hoodrick

Hoodrick is the area in Rason that most conspiracy theorists target. Rumours include aliens, nuclear weapons and high-tech AI soldiers. However, according to the government, it is simply a secondary military base and training area. A document leaked on April 13, 2020 showed that there was a meeting to negotiate planning for an Aspect X Research Lab, but there is no proof that these rumours are true. Most of the population here are just families of soldiers assigned to Hoodrick. Many hunters come here to hunt recreationally in the dense and massive forests of Hoodrick.

Luxidoor

Luxidoor is a completely fake province. The people are AI robots, and everything is artificial, including all living things. It is used as a military field training exercise. Notable units trained here are Tank Destroyers, T-72s, M2 Bradleys, MQ-9 Reapers and Mortar Infantry. From a satellite view, this city looks like the economic and military centre of Rason, so enemies that do not invest in spies accidentally waste their resources attacking this province.

Vengir

Vengir is the name of the barren, inhabitable wastelands that are affected by both COVID-18 and radioactive contamination. Almost nothing lives here.

Zebasi

Zebasi is where most of Zaheria's food comes from. Almost all animals farmed for food are grown here. The land here is extremely fertile, despite the harsh desert climate, and in the past several wars were fought for this province. Due to over-forestation, however, the land is at risk to soil erosion.

Ai-mo

Ai-mo is the province containing the northern mountain ranges. The people here are self-sufficient and live as if Ai-mo is a seperate country, but the mountain ranges hide secret military bases that house most reserves of Plump Tanks, F-35 Lightning IIs from Oldenburg, 2K22 Tunguskas from Norrland and assorted armored vehicles. Despite the warm temeperatures, it sometimes snows here.

Quetzali

As part of the plan to increase soldiers in the military, every 12 years a province is selected, and in that province, all people must serve in the military for 10 years, after turning 18. Currently, Quetzali is the selected province, and they specialize in training Infantry units. However, natives are exempt from this as well as the forced Christianity in Rason. The Quetzali natives worship the bird gods of the red soil and live in harmony with the natural symmetry of their cubistic jungles. They are commonly seen riding giant flightless birds.

Yaddak

Yaddak is a major trade center placed right in the heart of the Rasonian desert. Becoming rich from trade, Yaddak can afford luxuries like water to grow trees and flowers. Yaddak used to be a nomadic tribe before settling down to focus on trading their goods, which include copper, platinum other mined goods. On April 10, 2020, Yaddak hunters managed to find a Bigfoot in the artificial forests, however, most people do not believe this.

Government and Politics

Rason functions as a highly centralized, one-party state. According to its constitution, it is a self-described revolutionary and socialist state "guided in its activities by the Juche idea and the Songun idea". In addition to the constitution, Rason is governed by the Ten Principles for the Establishment of a Monolithic Ideological System (also known as the "Ten Principles of the One-Ideology System") which establishes standards for governance and a guide for the behaviors of Rasonians. The Workers' Party of Rason (WPR), led by Justin Cheng, has an estimated 3000 members and dominates every aspect of Rasonian politics.

Justin Cheng is the current Supreme Leader or Suryeong of Rason. He heads all major governing structures: he is Chairman of the Workers' Party of Rason, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of Rason, and Supreme Commander of the Rasonian People's Army.

According to the Constitution of Rason, there are officially three main branches of government. The first of these is the State Affairs Commission of Rason, which acts as "the supreme national guidance organ of state sovereignty". Its role is to deliberate and decide the work on defense building of the State, including major policies of the State; and to carry out the directions of the Chairman of the commission, Rason.

Legislative power is held by the unicameral Supreme People's Assembly (SPA). Its 687 members are elected every five years by universal suffrage, though they have been described by outside observers as sham elections. Supreme People's Assembly sessions are convened by the SPA Presidium, whose president (Amy Song since founding in 2020) represents the state in relations with foreign countries. Deputies formally elect the President, the vice-presidents and members of the Presidium and take part in the constitutionally appointed activities of the legislature: pass laws, establish domestic and foreign policies, appoint members of the cabinet, review and approve the state economic plan, among others. The SPA itself cannot initiate any legislation independently of party or state organs. It is unknown whether it has ever criticized or amended bills placed before it, and the elections are based around a single list of WPR-approved candidates who stand without opposition.

Executive power is vested in the Cabinet of Rason, which has been headed by Premier Max Yang since 11 April 2020. The Premier represents the government and functions independently. His authority extends over two vice-premiers, 30 ministers, two cabinet commission chairmen, the cabinet chief secretary, the president of the Central Bank, the director of the Central Bureau of Statistics and the president of the Academy of Sciences. A 31st ministry, the Ministry of People's Armed Forces, is under the jurisdiction of the State Affairs Commission.

Foreign Relationships

Oof

Oof and Baskol have been sworn enemies since they were founded, since they shared the Zaherian-Tind Border. There have been many wars with eachother (all of which Baskol won) and they both collapsed due to COVID-18 together. Baskol reformed as Rason, while Oof has still not returned. Rason still scouts the area regularly to put a stop to any attempt to rebuild civilization in the area.

Franxx's Nation

Desperate to prove himself a worthy leader of Rason, Justin Cheng quickly declared war on Franxx's Nation and won quickly with only 2 casualties in the entire war. Franxx's Nation is still weak to this day and still spies on Rason, but is too weak to be bothered with, until Franxx's Nation disappeared entirely.

Wiegé

Rason regularly leads raids on the southern coast of Wiegé to claim more land and natural resources. Rason once planned a war against Wiege again, after they reached Tier 9. However, this plan was eventually scrapped.

Terroardans Republic

Rason has annexed Terroardans Republic multiple times for more land.

Flatfield

After a highly disputed football match, along with many other factors, Rason declared war on Flatfield, which put up no resistance at all while Rason annexed them repeatedly, eventually causing the nation to collapse.

SUBB

Requiring more cotton to train crew for Rason's growing armor units, Rason targeted SUBB for resources. It was an easy victory for Rason.

Iroskerin

Iroskerin declared war on Rason after Rason declared war on SUBB, which proved to be a mistake after Rason completely destroyed Iroskerin, as they were a tier lower.

Fillipino Empire

Rason and the Fillipino Empire are on good terms, and left the alliance Comintern together after every other nation was inactive.

Saarland

Saarland was the third active nation to leave Comintern, and join the Last Bastion along with Rason and Fillipino Empire.

Zudnik

Zudnik created the alliance The Last Bastion and invited Rason, Fillipino Empire and Saarland to it.

Zilin

Zillin was founded by Jessie Cheng, the sister of Justin Cheng on the continent of Westberg. Due to the unhappy population with their new leader and general unstabillity in the area, it seems she has fled the country and is hiding in Rason.

Draco Imperium

Rason helps Draco Imperium with advice and they are in the same alliance, until recently, when he left and his nation disappeared.

Bryceopolis

Rason invited Bryceopolis to their alliance, until their country collapsed.

Roxxane

The nation of Roxanne is in the same alliance with Rason, until their country collapsed.

Oodlistan ISR

Rason was briefly with Oodlistan ISR in the alliance Comintern, and once sent a division of RPG Infantry to help their defenses.

Khev Minosk (country)

Khev Minosk is the second country led by Jessie Cheng, on the continent of Tind.

Conclave

The nation of Conclave is in the same alliance with Rason. Conclave has sent help to Rason on multiple occasions.

Arcade Cavern

The nation of Arcade Cavern is in the same alliance with Rason.

Munich Empire

The nation of Munich Empire is in the same alliance with Rason. Munich Empire has left the alliance on bad terms with Rason and the other nations. However, he later joined The Last Bastion again. Munich Empire was once again expelled from The Last Bastian when the ruler's nephew leaked Rason's stockpile to Baystar to start a war.

Awantia

The nation of Awantia is in the same alliance with Rason.

Kegonia

The nation of Kegonia is in the same alliance with Rason.

Safeyor

The nations of Safeyor is in the same alliance with Rason.

IzL

IzL is in the same alliance as Rason.

Law Enforcement and Internal Policies

Rason has a civil law system based on the Baskol model and influenced by native traditions and communist legal theory. Judiciary procedures are handled by the Rason Supreme Court (the highest court of appeal), provincial or special city-level courts, people's courts and special courts. People's courts are at the lowest level of the system and operate in cities, counties and urban districts, while different kinds of special courts handle cases related to military, railroad or maritime matters.

Judges are theoretically elected by their respective local people's assemblies, but in practice they are appointed by the Workers' Party of Rason. The penal code is based on the principle of nullum crimen sine lege (no crime without a law), but remains a tool for political control despite several amendments reducing ideological influence. Courts carry out legal procedures related to not only criminal and civil matters, but also political cases as well. Political prisoners are sent to labor camps, while criminal offenders are drafted into the military.

The Ministry of People's Security (MPS) maintains most law enforcement activities. It is one of the most powerful state institutions in Rason and oversees the national police force, investigates criminal cases and manages non-political correctional facilities. It handles other aspects of domestic security like civil registration, traffic control, fire departments and railroad security. The State Security Department was separated from the MPS on April 11 2020 to conduct domestic and foreign intelligence, counterintelligence and manage the political prison system. Political camps can be short-term reeducation zones or "kwalliso" (total control zones) for lifetime detention. Camp 15 in Yaddak and Camp 18 in Ouamji have been described in detailed testimonies.

The security apparatus is very extensive, exerting strict control over residence, travel, employment, clothing, food and family life. Security forces employ mass surveillance. It is believed they tightly monitor cellular and digital communications.

Military

The Rasonian People's Army (RPA) has a military GP of 38,031, making it the worlds 4th most powerful military. It consists mainly of GEARHOUND Warheads and other units that the GEARHOUND Warheads help train. The RPA has fought in many different wars and helped in the War Against Terror, killing over 9000 Insurgents.

Any other military data is still highly classified.

Society

Demographics

The Rasonian Census enumerated a total population of 20,064,000. The main drivers of population growth are immigration and annexation, and, to a lesser extent, natural growth.

Rason has one of the highest per-capita immigration rates in the world, driven mainly by economic policy and, to a lesser extent, family reunification. The Rasonian public, as well as the major political parties, support the current level of immigration. In Rason's history, a total of 3,210,042 immigrants/refugees/claimed population were admitted to Rason, mainly from Westberg. Wiegé, Terraordans Republic and Pacific Islands are the top three countries of origin for immigrants moving to Rason. Rason also accepts large numbers of refugees, accounting for over 10 percent of annual global refugee resettlements.

The majority of Rasonians (69.9 percent) live in family households, 26.8 percent report living alone, and those living with unrelated persons reported at 3.7 percent. The average size of a household in 2006 was 2.5 people.

Health

Rason has an average life expectancy of 85.2 years.

A study reported that communicable diseases are responsible for 29% of the total deaths in Rsaon. In 2003 infectious diseases like tuberculosis, malaria, and hepatitis B were described as endemic to the country as a result of the COVID-18 epidemic. However, they were reported to be in decline.

In 2013, cardiovascular disease as a single disease group was reported as the largest cause of death in Rason. The three major causes of death in Rason are ischaemic heart disease (13%), lower respiratory infections (11%) and cerebrovascular disease (7%).

According to a report by the Zudnyki Department of State, almost 100% of the population has access to water and sanitation. 80% of the population has access to improved sanitation facilities.

A free universal insurance system is in place. Every individual has a lifetime health card which contains a full medical record.

Education

Education is mandatory for everyone, and private schools and homeschooling are outlawed. At age 4, children start Kindergarden for 2 years, and then go to elementary school for grades 1-3. At the end of grade 3, all students must take a test that determines which of 3 schools types (Class A, B, C schools) they will go to next. For grades 4-8, students learn more and harder material based on their test score and a psychologist's analysis.

Starting at grade 6, students will begin miltary theory and tactics training, as well as phsyical training in addition to regular schoolwork. Class A School students may also apply to switch to air force training, where they learn about aviation instead, or the Navy, where they learn sailing and other nautical skills.

After grade 8, Class C students finish school and are forced to find a job within 6 months, or they will be given a mandatory job by the government, usually on farms. Meanwhile, Class B and Class A students go to high-school, where they continue education. They also begin active deployment in the military to complement their training.

After grade 12, Class B students go to their 10-year mandatory conscription service. Class A Students then must go to a university of their choice, and study until they have a degree they are satisfied with. They then begin their mandatory military service that lasts until their Class B counterparts finish theirs.

When mandatory mlitary service is over, they are allowed to choose what ever job they want. Due to the 3 Classes system, Class C students often end up working minimum-wage jobs, while Class B and Class A students tend to get better jobs. Because of this, people have attempted to steal exam copies early many times.

Military Deployment for Students

Students in the Ground Force most often end up in GEARHOUND Warheads, watching the crew. They may also accompany ground soldiers in active combat. Students are given a different loadout then active-duty soldiers, which are the same for each student.

A student's primary weapon is a Tar-21, equipped with a red dot sight, a silencer and a heartbeat sensor that lets them know where enemies are. They are also given a Spas-12 equipped with a red dot sight and a silencer to use if their Tar-21 runs out of ammo. They also 2 flashbangs and one semtex, although these may vary if their commanding officer feels nessecary.

Very succesful students will eventually be put in charge of their squads, and given a Avenger AGM-65 Maverick control rig, allowing to control the missiles being fired. The other aspects of the drone, however, are controlled by real soldiers.

Some students may be selected to be a sniper, in which case their primary weapon is a .50 Barret Sniper Rifle, equipped with a thermal scope and silencer. Their heartbeat sensor will also then go to their secondary Spas-12.

Although these missions seem very dangerous, they are carefully watched by drones and professional snipers that make sure that no students are actually injured, except in some cases, like the Battle of the Kaesong Elementary School.

Religion

According to the government, Christianity is mandatory for all citizens, except for the following groups of people:

  • Native Baskolians
  • Immigrants
  • Refugees
  • Citizens of colonies

Being caught practicing another religion illegally will result in being sent to a prison camp.

Economy

Rason's GDP comes mainly from taxes. Rason now rarely sells uraninite, causing rapid fluctations in the uraninite market. Rason is now self-reliant on almost everything, except for fuel, which will soon cause Rason's economy to plummet if not solved fast enough. Rason's economy information is also highly-classified.

Culture

Rasonian heritage is protected and maintained by the state. Over 110 historical sites and objects of national significance are cataloged as National Treasures of North Korea, while some 1,800 less valuable artifacts are included in a list of Cultural Assets. The Historic Sites and Monuments in Kaesong and the Complex of Senegal Tombs are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Visual Arts

Rasonian visual art has been dominated by figures such as Jaclyn Kim – the country's most famous painter. Kim's career painting Rasonian landscapes continues to this day. The Namibia Art Studio employs over 200 painters with a nationalistic and idealistic focus, who first exhibited their distinctive works in May 2020.

World Heritage

In Rason, the Senegal tumulus is registered on the World Heritage list of UNESCO. These remains were registered as the first World Heritage property of Rason in the UNESCO World Heritage Committee (WHC) in May 2020. There are 63 burial mounds in the tomb group, with clear murals preserved. The burial customs of the Senegal culture have influenced Zaherian civilizations beyond Rason, including Zudnik.

Music

The Rasonian government emphasized optimistic folk-based tunes and revolutionary music throughout most of its history. Revolutionary operas differ from their Western counterparts by adding traditional instruments to the orchestra and avoiding recitative segments. Classical by Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Stravinsky and other composers is performed both by the State Symphony Orchestra and student orchestras.

Literature

All publishing houses are owned by the government or the WPR because they are considered an important tool for propaganda and agitation. The Workers' Party of Rason Publishing House is the most authoritative among them and publishes all works of Kim Il-sung, ideological education materials and party policy documents. The availability of foreign literature is limited, examples being North Korean editions of Indian, German, Chinese and Russian fairy tales, Tales from Shakespeare and some works of Bertolt Brecht and Erich Kästner.

Media

Government policies towards film are no different than those applied to other arts—motion pictures serve to fulfill the targets of "social education". Western productions are only available at private showings to high-ranking Party members, although the 1997 film Titanic is frequently shown to university students as an example of Western culture. Access to foreign media products is available through smuggled DVDs and television or radio broadcasts in border areas. Western films like You had it ComingTitanic, and Charlie's Angels are just a few films that have been smuggled across the borders of Rason, allowing for access to the Rasonian citizens.

The main news provider is the Korean Central News Agency. All 12 major newspapers and 20 periodicals, including The Petram Herald, are published in the capital.

There are 50 state-owned TV stations. Two of them broadcast only on weekends and the Rasonian Central Television is on air every day in the evenings.

Cuisine

Rasonians usually eat lots of makerel. due to their abundance. Because of this, the national dish of Rason is made from makerel. Milk and dairy products are scarce due to the lack of cows, and so is meat. To solve this, Rason has imported highly-nutritous supergrass.

Sports

Most schools have daily practice in association football, basketball, table tennis, gymnastics, boxing and others. The DPR Rason League is popular inside the country and its games are often televised.

Rason has quickly entered Division 1 in both the National League and the Club League. All team members are world class players and rarely get demoted to Division 2.
