Munich Empire used to 'technically' have a T-72 tank division, but, unfortunately, the T-72 tanks were destroyed by Izl in the Germans first Izl crusade.

The T-72 Tank is the best mid-game tank in the game. Most mid-tier nations (4-7) will use T-72s until they can get planes and/or better tanks. T-72s are the MBT for the Khev Minosk and the Bihadj Insurgents. It is widely used due to it being easily recruited (sales/missions), being available as early as Tier 1, cheap upkeep ($5, 1 Ammunition. 1 Fuel), and powerful stats compared to other early-tier units.

The T-72 Tank is the equivalent of an M1A1 Abrams.

Obtaining the T-72 Tank

The T-72 Tank can be obtained in many ways. The most common and widely used way to obtain it is by completing the rare mission "Temperate Terrorists", which can give up to 10 T-72 Tanks. You can quickly get this missions by exhausting the card "Against the Terrorists", from the card pack The Union of Nations, which can be exhausted up to 5 times a day.

The mission Dul Kaddir Convoy Interception also gives up to 10 T-72 Tanks, but is harder, and does not have a card to give the mission.

Lastly, they can be recruited normally during a sale for the T-72 Tank, as long as you have the Heavy Armour Factory Level 1. The base price to recruit a T-72 Tank is currently unknown.

If you want to get the T-72s without completing a mission or waiting for a sale, the M1A1 Abrams is an exact substitute.

Strategies

As the T-72 Tank is one of the most common units, it is a good idea to know strategies about the T-72 Tank.

Strategies to Fight Against the T-72 Tank

The T-72 Tank is an armour unit, so the following units will do extra damage to the T-72:

  • RPG Infantry
  • Tank Destroyer
  • MQ-9 Reaper
  • A-10 Thunderbolt
  • Javelin Infantry
  • Avenger

However, the RPG Infantry and A-10 Thunderbolt are very weak, in terms of HP and buffs, so they may lose against high-level T-72s. This effect can be seen in Venland Airspace Violations. In addition, the MQ-9 Reaper has very low HP (45) so be careful using low-level MQ-9 Reapers on lvl 5 or higher T-72 Tanks.

Remember that the T-72 Tank can also be defeated by other units such as GEAR Infantry, GEARHOUND Warheads, B2 Spirits, etc. as long as they are a high level.

Strategies to Use the T-72 Tank

The primary use for T-72 Tanks is mission cycling, where T-72 Tanks quickly force enemies in a mission to surrender, finishing the mission and causing new missions to spawn, so you can gain XP and loot tokens. Be wary of sending them on missions that give mystery boxes or high-difficulty missions until they are higher level. Getting the proper equipment for your T-72s is very important.

When you have excess T-72s in reserve, you can disband them for money, building materials and metal. This is useful if you need building materials or metal and can't afford the market prices.

Variants

The T-72 Tank has four variants.

M1A1 Abrams

M1A1 Abrams are almost exactly the same as T-72 Tanks. The only difference is that they have a different name and M1A1 Abrams are available at all times, not just when they are on sale. You cannot get M1A1 Abrams through missions.

M1A1 Swift Desert Platoon

The M1A1 Swift Desert Platoon is the same as the T-72 Tank and M1A1 Abrams, but it has a 30% climate boost in desert climates (ie on Zaheria). These can only be obtained during sales.

Leopard 2

The Leopard 2 is a similar tank, that could be considered more powerful than the regular T-72. It has stats FIR: 4, DEF 2, MAN 3, HP 130. Unfortunately, they can only be obtained during a sale.

Stridsvagn 122

Stridsvagn 122s are similar to the M1A1 Swift Desert Platoon, but with a 30% climate boost in temperate climates (ie Westberg). These tanks can only be obtained during sales

Trivia

  • In real life, the T-72 Tank was a Soviet Main Battle Tank, first produced in 1971. It is now replaced by newer tanks, but some countries still use them.
